Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is becoming a pivotal enabler in the digital transformation of industrial environments. Simplifying data access and interpretation through GenAI helps bridge the gap between complex analytics and day-to-day plant operations.

Leveraging GenAI for enhanced plant performance: An OEE case study

In a recent case study on the application of GenAI in a chemical plant, a chatbot interface was integrated into existing systems to support Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) monitoring and decision-making.

OEE is a key performance metric in manufacturing, combining availability, performance, and quality into a single indicator of operational efficiency. Despite its relevance, traditional OEE dashboards often remain underutilized on the shop floor due to their complexity and lack of contextual information. The GenAI-based approach addresses this challenge by enabling plant personnel to engage with real-time performance data through natural language queries.
